Matt Rösner initiated his three-part limited edition Tape Series in April 2010. The series was devised to showcase fresh, new, spur-of-the-moment recordings (Volume 1) and fill some gaps in Rösner's ever-increasing body of work (Volume 2: Devotion Songs).

Released at the same time as Devotion Songs and completing the cycle is the third volume, By Slow Degrees. Here we find Rösner in previously uncharted territory; without a laptop and utilising a condensed set-up solely of electric guitar, pedals and an amplifier. Rösner presents six bright improvisations recorded in Myalup, Western Australia in late 2011. By Slow Degrees is an album of work which sits easily amongst his finest to date, and one which points toward a bold new direction.
